Baseball Recap: Soquel Beats Everett Alvarez for Their Eighth Straight Win

Soquel barely beat Everett Alvarez the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Soquel put the hurt on Everett Alvarez with a sharp 23-2 win on Tuesday. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Luke Shoemaker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Kane Humecky looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Hudson Summerrill was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Piona, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.

Soquel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory keeps Soquel at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average this season. As for Everett Alvarez, they moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
