League recap: Betz overpowering for Clarke County in past week

A Bull Run league recap: 5/22/13

Clarke County's David Betz was the best pitcher in A Bull Run this week. He picked up two wins and nine strikeouts.

The Eagles outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their five total wins led the league. Clarke County beat Madison County 4-3 and Rappahannock County 15-3.

The Eagles' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 18 hits and 11 walks, both of which led the league.

Clarke County, the season leader in runs scored at 89, added to its total with a league-high 31 runs this week.

The most RBI in the league this week belonged to the Eagles' Keith Hummer, who drove in seven. He now stands at 13 RBIs on the season, which puts him third in the league.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Betz, who turned in nine Ks for Clarke County. With 23 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.

Jarrett Sowder was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in five runs during the Eagles' 15-3 win over Rappahannock County. He went 3-for-5 and scored three runs.
