Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hobgood Charter

Hobgood Charter waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Columbia Wildcats with a sharp 15-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Haleigh Eason was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elainie Leggett, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cristina Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hobgood Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.

Hobgood Charter's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Columbia, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Hobgood Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against SouthWest Edgecombe on the 3rd. Hopefully Columbia payed attention to the Raiders' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
