Softball Game Preview: Williston Red Devils vs. Fort Meade Miners

The Williston Red Devils will challenge the Fort Meade Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Williston heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell 6-2 to Trenton. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Williston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Bertrand, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Bertrand is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

Meanwhile, Fort Meade came up short against Moore Haven last Wednesday and fell 10-7.

Makayla Deleon was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nakaia Pinkston, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fort Meade's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Williston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Fort Meade struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
