Recap: Desert Pines Jaguars vs. Liberty Patriots
On Thursday, the Desert Pines Jaguars faced the Liberty Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Desert Pines made off with a 62-61 victory over Liberty. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Tyler Bright dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Aquiningoc, who scored 12 points.
The win made it two in a row for Desert Pines and bumps their season record up to 8-12. As for Liberty, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.
Desert Pines will head out on the road to face off against Arbor View at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
