Volleyball Game Preview: King's Academy Lions vs. Suncoast Chargers

King's Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Suncoast is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, King's Academy got the win against Atlantic Christian by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won four in a row.

While King's Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Suncoast faced Dr. Joaquin Garcia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Chargers won by a set and slipped past the Bulldogs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since March 13th.

Suncoast took Dr. Joaquin Garcia into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 24-26, 20-18.

King's Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Suncoast, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.

King's Academy beat Suncoast 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
