Football Game Preview: Gettysburg Warriors vs. Palmyra Cougars

The Gettysburg Warriors will head out to take on the Palmyra Cougars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gettysburg has given up an average of 37 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gettysburg is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They were dealt a 47-12 defeat at the hands of Shippensburg. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 129th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Grant Johnson, who threw for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Preston Burnett handled things on the ground, rushing for 111 yards.

Meanwhile, Palmyra played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Lower Dauphin, falling 41-7. The Cougars have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Gettysburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Palmyra, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Gettysburg against Palmyra when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
