Recap: Palmyra Panthers vs. South Shelby Cardinals

The Palmyra Panthers came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 50-44 W over South Shelby. That's another feather in the cap for Palmyra, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Callie Mcwilliams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Mcwilliams hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Belle Roush was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Palmyra's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for South Shelby, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Palmyra won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central/Southeastern at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Central/Southeastern will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Palmyra surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Shelby, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brookfield at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully South Shelby focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
