Baseball Recap: Fairmont Wins Going Away Against Red Springs

Fairmont got themselves on the board against Red Springs on Tuesday, but Red Springs never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Red Devils. With that victory, the Golden Tornadoes brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Mynkoda Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairmont is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Nehemiah Chavis and Kyland Strickland did most of the damage at the plate: Chavis got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Strickland went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Strickland has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Daquan Moore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Fairmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Fairmont back to even at 11-11. As for Red Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Fairmont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Clinton on the 29th. As for Red Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against West Bladen on the 29th.
