Basketball Game Preview: Springville Orioles vs. Starmont Stars

Springville is 10-0 against Starmont since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Springville Orioles will host the Starmont Stars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Springville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Maquoketa Valley just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 45-43. The contest marked the Orioles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-40, which was the final score in Starmont's tilt against Alburnett on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Pirates are ranked 65th).

Springville's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Starmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Springville took their victory against Starmont when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 72-46. Does Springville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Starmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
