Baseball Recap: Cloquet Comes Up Short

Cloquet had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-16 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Hermantown Hawks by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-4 defeat on May 5th.

Bo Harriman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Battaglia, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

As for Hermantown, they moved to 9-12-1 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 9th.

On Hermantown's side, Jax Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on River Freeman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Hermantown: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11-1 otherwise. Charlie Marchand was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

As of now, neither Cloquet nor Hermantown have any future games scheduled.
