Softball Game Preview: Modesto Panthers vs. Johansen Vikings

The Modesto Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Johansen Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Modesto is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Modesto's offense. They came up short against Turlock on Thursday, falling 19-0.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Johansen was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 22-1 to Central Valley. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Johansen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Sanchez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Sanchez's first of the season.

Johansen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Modesto, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Modesto took their victory against Johansen in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
