Recap: Foothill Knights vs. Newbury Park Panthers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Foothill Knights can now relate to. They took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newbury Park on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Mitchell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Mitchell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Nico Mancini was another key contributor, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Shane Rosenthal was his usual excellent self, picking up 222 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Smigiel, who threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Newbury Park, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Newbury Park will look to defend their home field on Friday against Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Thousand Oaks is ranked 105th, while Newbury Park is ranked 100th).
