Softball Game Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Laurens Raiders

The Woodruff Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Laurens Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurens took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Woodruff, who comes in off a win.

Woodruff is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Hillcrest on Saturday. Woodruff's pitchers stepped up to hand Hillcrest a 3-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Laurens didn't have quite enough to beat Whitmire on Thursday and fell 7-5.

Carly Edwards made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Edwards is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Trevino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Woodruff's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Laurens, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Woodruff took their victory against Laurens when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1. Will Woodruff repeat their success, or does Laurens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
