Basketball Game Preview: Redeemer Christian Lions vs. First Christian Lions

The Redeemer Christian Lions will take on the First Christian Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Redeemer Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Covenant School of Jacksonville by a score of 71-58.

Redeemer Christian found their leader in sophomore Graidy Hughes, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. David Permenter was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, First Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 83-59 to Westwood Christian. The Lions were down 66-43 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

First Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Redeemer Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-17.

Redeemer Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over First Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, winning 57-50. Will Redeemer Christian repeat their success, or does First Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
