Basketball Recap: Bay Takes a Loss

After flying high against Elyria last Monday, Bay came back down to earth. The Bay Rockets came up short against the Normandy Invaders on Saturday, falling 49-26. The contest marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Normandy found their leader in sophomore Ziley Minich, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 21 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Minich has scored at least a third of Normandy's points. Giana Carcioppolo was another key player, going 5 of 6 en route to 12 points.

Bay has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Normandy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay has already played their next matchup (against Buckeye), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Normandy will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Westlake at 7:00 p.m. Normandy is on a three-game streak of home wins, Westlake a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
