Soccer Game Preview: Vanguard vs. Forest

The Vanguard Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Forest Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Vanguard took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let West Port onto the board and left with an 8-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Forest's and Belleview's matchup on Wednesday was close at halftime, but Forest turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. Forest put the hurt on Belleview with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Vanguard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-1-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those nine contests. As for Forest, they pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Vanguard took their win against Forest in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Vanguard repeat their success, or does Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
