Volleyball Recap: Nutley Takes a Loss

Nutley was the 2-0 winner over West Orange when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Maroon Raiders fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Maroon Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nutley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-20.

West Orange was led to victory by Marvin Fanfan and Leonardo McCormick. Fanfan had eight digs and two aces, while McCormick had seven digs. Those eight digs gave Fanfan a new career-high. Marshall Greer also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Nutley's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for West Orange, their record now sits at 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nutley will host Glen Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Orange, they will take on Immaculate Conception at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
