Basketball Game Preview: Leakey Eagles vs. Charlotte Trojans

The Leakey Eagles will take on the Charlotte Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Leakey and three for Charlotte.

Leakey is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Sabinal on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles were beaten by the Yellowjackets 84-38. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-17.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-57, which was the final score in Charlotte's tilt against Utopia on Tuesday.

Leakey will need to focus on slowing down Joshua Gaitan, one of several Charlotte players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Gaitan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Miguel Cancel was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Leakey, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
