Volleyball Recap: Weed Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Weed suffered their biggest loss since October 24, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against the Mt. Shasta Bears, falling 3-0. The Cougars have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

While Weed ultimately came up short, they really made Mt. Shasta work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, 26-24.

Maci Phillips paced Weed's offense, picking up nine kills. Phillips got some help from Brooklynn Bivens and her 12 assists. Phillips was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Mt. Shasta to victory were Kaley Lanier and Leighton Morley. Lanier had 23 digs, while Morley had 18 digs. That's the most digs Morley has posted since back in September.

Weed's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Mt. Shasta, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-2 record this season.

Weed and Mt. Shasta are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, the Cougars and Maxwell will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Shasta, they will challenge East Nicolaus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
