Softball Recap: Potlatch Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Potlatch had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Glenns Ferry Pilots 6-5 on Thursday. The six-run effort marked the Loggers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Brieanna Winther spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Hayley McNeal was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Elena Vowels was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Potlatch's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Glenns Ferry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-6.

Coincidentally, Potlatch and Glenns Ferry will both be playing Genesee the next time they take the field. The Pilots will head out to face the Bulldogs at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Loggers will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
