Baseball Recap: East Stroudsburg North Comes Up Short

East Stroudsburg North had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it six. They lost 14-6 to the Stroudsburg Mountaineers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

East Stroudsburg North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Caceres, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Colin Howell was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Stroudsburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

On Stroudsburg's side, AJ Trifilo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Trifilo has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Will Fergusson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paul Maccarrone, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, East Stroudsburg North will take on Pocono Mountain East at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Stroudsburg, they will square off against Pocono Mountain West at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountaineers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
