Soccer Recap: Northgate Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Northgate, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They beat the Acalanes Dons by a goal, winning 2-1. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Broncos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Dons are ranked 80th).

Aidan Cairns and Alesandro Guarnaccia scored both of Northgate's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Northgate's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4-1. As for Acalanes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-3-1 record this season.

Northgate will venture away from home to challenge Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Acalanes has already played their next game (against Mt. Diablo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
