The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Strasburg Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Strasburg will be up against a hot Lyons squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Lions blew past Valley 13-0 on Tuesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Gretta Wynja's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.
At the plate, Dahlia Oviatt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dickes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Lyons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted a batting average of .053.
Meanwhile, Strasburg didn't have quite enough to beat Brush on Tuesday and fell 12-11.
Madi Olsen and Addi Kent stepped up to the plate in a big way. Olsen fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Kent went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Kent has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Savanah Bradley was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Lyons' record is now 14-5. As for Strasburg, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lyons hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Strasburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .427. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
