Basketball Game Preview: Oregon City Pioneers vs. St. Mary's Academy Blues

Oregon City has gone 9-1 against St. Mary's Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Oregon City Pioneers will venture away from home to take on the St. Mary's Academy Blues at 7:30 p.m. Oregon City will be strutting in after a win while St. Mary's Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Oregon City made easy work of Tigard and carried off a 49-24 victory. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-18, which was the final score in St. Mary's Academy's tilt against West Linn on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Blues can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Lions are ranked 18th).

Oregon City's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for St. Mary's Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Oregon City against St. Mary's Academy in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 79-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oregon City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
