Baseball Recap: East Mecklenburg Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

East Mecklenburg won against Community School of Davidson last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. East Mecklenburg beat the Mallard Creek Mavericks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won four in a row.

East Mecklenburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Romig, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Malachi McCord also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

East Mecklenburg's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mallard Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg will face off against Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mallard Creek, they will square off against North Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
