Basketball Recap: Southside Has No Trouble Against Jones

Southside lost to Jones back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Southside Seahawks were the clear victor by a 75-50 margin over the Jones Trojans. That looming 75-50 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seahawks yet this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Armstrong, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. The match was Armstrong's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymere Wiggins, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and five boards.

Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 17 consecutive games.

Southside's record is now 6-14. As for Jones, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

Southside will have a chance to go back-to-back against Jones: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
