Softball Recap: Rocky Mount Takes a Loss

Rocky Mount had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 16. They lost 17-3 to the Franklinton Red Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Tuesday.

Rocky Mount saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jada Bernard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That run was Bernard's first of the season.

As for Franklinton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Franklinton's side, Madison Lada made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Lada has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Peebles, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Leah Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Rocky Mount has already played their next match, a 21-1 defeat against Northern Nash on the 17th. As for Franklinton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-2 loss against Southern Nash on the 17th.
