Baseball Game Preview: Portales Rams vs. Artesia Bulldogs

Portales hasn't had much luck against Artesia recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Tuesday, Portales came up short against West Las Vegas and fell 5-1. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Portales saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Luscombe, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Luscombe hit this season.

Meanwhile, Artesia faced Carlsbad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Cavemen/Cavegirls by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Portales' defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Artesia, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-6 record.
