Basketball Recap: Northpoint Christian Comes Up Short

Northpoint Christian and Jackson Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Northpoint Christian had to settle for second. They were dealt a 63-32 loss at the hands of the Jackson Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 362nd in Mississippi, while the Eagles are ranked 92nd in Tennessee).

Jackson Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Birman Jenkins led the charge by going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. What's more, Jenkins also posted a 70% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Co Vargason, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Northpoint Christian is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. As for Jackson Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-8.

Northpoint Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jackson Christian, they have already played their next game, a 45-32 defeat against Harding Academy on the 18th.
