Volleyball Game Preview: Anson Bearcats vs. Piedmont Panthers + How To Watch

The Anson Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Piedmont Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anson has eight straight victories, Piedmont has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, Anson got the win against Monroe by a conclusive 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Anson took every set by at least 15 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-10, 25-9.

Hannah Austin and Emma Beam were among the main playmakers for Anson as the former had 13 digs and two assists and the latter had four aces and two assists. Austin is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Anson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Piedmont lost 3-0 to Weddington on Tuesday.

Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Anson, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.

Anson was able to grind out a solid victory over Piedmont in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
