League recap: Holton climbs in state rankings

Holton moved up to 421 from 457 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central State. The Red Devils climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Chippewa Hills 32-17.

Reed City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating White Cloud, 63-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Coyotes.

David Dykstra was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Indians fell to Reed City. He recorded 1 fumble.

Keagan James provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Central Montcalm topped Hesperia. He completed 6 passes for 66 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 189 yards. James' key target this week was Blake Wittkopp, who caught 2 passes for 23 yards.

Tim Cairnduff was the best wideout in the league this week as Morley Stanwood lost to Newaygo. Cairnduff racked up 2 receptions for 67 yards. Jon Lagendyk helped Morley Stanwood's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.

On the heels of Nate Shurlow and Garrett Cavendish, Lakeview has had great success on offense. Shurlow leads the league in passing with 802 yards, while Cavendish has rushed for 1,148 yards this season. The Warriors' Tyler Kelsey leads the league in receiving yards with 523 on 23 catches.

Dykstra has rushed for 964 yards on 149 carries so far this year.

White Cloud fell to Monty Price's team 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dykstra ran for 134 yards in the defeat.
