Basketball Recap: Niskayuna Comes Up Short

Niskayuna entered their game against Colonie Central on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Niskayuna Silver Warriors took a blow against the Colonie Central Raiders, falling 75-41. While losing is never fun, the Silver Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Raiders are ranked 13th).

Despite the defeat, Niskayuna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Skye Linyear posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciarra Gonzalez, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Niskayuna's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Colonie Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

When Niskayuna and Colonie Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Niskayuna will try to stop Shenendehowa's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Niskayuna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. Similarly, Colonie Central will try to stop Albany's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
