Softball Recap: East Central Takes a Loss

East Central lost against Pine City back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles fell 8-4 to the Dragons. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hayden Loew was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Loew was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lily Ludwig made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Warman, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple.

East Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Pine City, with the victory, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-12.

East Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-5 loss against Aitkin on the 12th. As for Pine City, they have also already played their next game, a 9-8 win against Marshall on the 12th.
