Softball Recap: Cabrini Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ursuline Academy

There's no place like home for Cabrini, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Ursuline Academy Lions on Thursday as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The Crescents haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Makayla Richoux made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off four doubles, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lindsey Thibodeaux was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Ashley Normand was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Cabrini always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ursuline Academy only posted an OBP of .294.

Cabrini picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-9-1. As for Ursuline Academy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cabrini will take on Morris Jeff at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ursuline Academy, they will challenge Booker T. Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
