Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

After flying high against Knox County last Monday, Northeast came back down to earth. The Northeast Bearcats came up short against the South Shelby Cardinals on Tuesday, falling 73-51. The Bearcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 59-56.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for South Shelby, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Northeast Bearcats face off against the Canton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Northeast likes a good challenge. As for South Shelby, they will venture away from home to face off against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Shelby knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.
