Baseball Game Preview: Corvallis Blue Devils vs. Big Sky Eagles

The Corvallis Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Big Sky Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Corvallis knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Big Sky likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Corvallis was able to grind out a solid victory over Ronan, taking the game 12-7. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jake Leavitt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Corvallis is 4-2 when Leavitt posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Bourassa, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Big Sky faced Glacier in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Eagles fell 10-7 to the Wolfpack.

Colter Nicolarsen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those home runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kade Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Big Sky's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2-1. As for Corvallis, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Corvallis suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Big Sky in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
