Basketball Recap: Logan Murillo Key Part of a Team Effort in Indians Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Plainview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 61-57 W over the Pauls Valley Panthers. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Panthers are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plainview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Murillo led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds gave Murillo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Chaney, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

Plainview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Plainview's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pauls Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Plainview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-29 loss against Ada on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Pauls Valley and Marlow will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
