Monterey Trail is hoping to do on Wednesday what River City couldn't on Monday: put an end to McClatchy's winning streak, which now stands at five games. McClatchy put the hurt on River City with a sharp 9-2 win.

Lily Arbizo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jocelyn Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Toth, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.

Meanwhile, while Monterey Trail put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Burbank. Monterey Trail was the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Burbank. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Monterey Trail considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Sophia Coronado and Marissa Montano made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Coronado struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Montano struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. In other batting news, Callie Neufeld was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Faith George, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Both the pair just can't seem to miss. McClatchy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Monterey Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

McClatchy might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Monterey Trail when the teams last played back in April. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Montano, who didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Now that McClatchy knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
