Softball Game Preview: The Bay School Breakers vs. San Domenico Panthers

The Bay School Breakers will head out on the road to face off against the San Domenico Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

The Bay School took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Making Waves Academy. The Breakers haven't had any issues with the Marlins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Claire Rogers-Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, The Bay School got a massive performance out of Rosie Mays-Smith, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that Mays-Smith has launched this season. Jackie Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The Bay School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Domenico). They put the hurt on Valley Christian with a sharp 29-11 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

The Bay School's record now sits at 4-5. As for San Domenico, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

The Bay School couldn't quite get it done against San Domenico in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 5-2. Can the Breakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
