Basketball Recap: Canyon Springs Comes Up Short

Canyon Springs lost against Spring Valley back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Canyon Springs Pioneers fell just short of the Spring Valley Grizzlies by a score of 65-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (57), the Pioneers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Canyon Springs still got an impressive performance from Gregory Paige, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Paige a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DeAndra' Cobb, who posted ten points and four steals.

Kevan Wilkins had an outrageously good game for Spring Valley as he scored 24 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Wilkins' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Imperial, who earned eight points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Canyon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Spring Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Canyon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-56 victory against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on the 14th. Spring Valley has also already played their next match, a 90-50 defeat against Liberty on the 15th.
