Oakwood triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Jaydah Arrowsmith

Recap: Oakwood Comets vs. Hoopeston Cornjerkers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Oakwood Comets had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-37 victory over the Cornjerkers. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oakwood.

Jaydah Arrowsmith was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikita Taylor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Oakwood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-19 record this season. As for Hoopeston, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15.

Oakwood is on the road again on Monday and plays Watseka at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. Watsekapresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oakwood in Illinois (Watseka is ranked 188th, while Oakwood is ranked 519th). Hoopeston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
