Soccer Game Preview: Middleburg vs. Matanzas

The Middleburg Broncos will head out to take on the Matanzas Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Middleburg will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Ridgeview on Thursday. Middleburg blew past Ridgeview 6-1. It was an even better day for Maysie Bader as she scored four goals for her team.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Matanzas was forced to settle for a draw. They and DeLand finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Thursday.

Middleburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those seven games. Matanzas' draw makes their record 7-5-1 this season.

Middleburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Matanzas in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middleburg since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
