Basketball Recap: Springfield Senators vs. Calvary Saints

The Springfield Senators can finally bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Calvary by a score of 73-65. Springfield's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Calvary's loss came despite strong showings from Connor Brown and Luke Blackford. Brown scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Blackford scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Kaleb Larson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Springfield's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18. As for Calvary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-8.

Springfield will head out on the road to take on the Greenwave at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Mattoon's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Senators have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Calvary, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Nokomis is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
