Football Game Preview: Gardner Wildcats vs. Oakmont Regional Spartans

The Gardner Wildcats will square off against the Oakmont Regional Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gardner will be strutting in after a win while Oakmont Regional will be coming in after a defeat.

Gardner will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Assabet Valley RVT on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Aztecs, posting a 42-12 victory.

Gardner found their leader in sophomore Dom Jamison, who threw for 312 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. Jamison's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Oakmont Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 34-0 defeat at the hands of South.

Oakmont Regional's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Gardner, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Gardner couldn't quite get it done against Oakmont Regional in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as they fell 13-6. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
