Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Herriman Mustangs

Mountain Ridge hasn't had much luck against Herriman recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will head out on the road to take on the Herriman Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Mountain Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-54 to Copper Hills.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Landon Blackwell and Isaiah Reiser. Reiser had a great game and went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points. Meanwhile, Blackwell was balling out in the loss, putting up 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Herriman had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. Everything went their way against the Silverwolves as they made off with a 69-44 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Herriman's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Mountain Ridge came up short against Herriman in their previous meeting on January 10th, falling 60-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Herriman's Carlo Mulford, who posted 24 points and five steals. Now that Mountain Ridge knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
