Baseball Recap: Seventy-First Takes a Loss

Seventy-First lost against Lumberton back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Seventy-First lost 15-1 to Lumberton. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Seventy-First's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lumberton, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Seventy-First Falcons duke it out with Douglas Byrd Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas Byrd has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 26 runs per game on average), something Seventy-First will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lumberton, they will square off against Purnell Swett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Purnell Swett has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
