Football Game Preview: Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets vs. Wolcott Eagles

After each having a week off, the Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets and the Wolcott Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic has given up an average of 38 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's last matchup with Torrington could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup two weeks ago. The Yellowjackets took a blow against the Raiders, falling 55-21. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

The losing side was boosted by Owen Riemer, who picked up 97 receiving yards and one score. Airyn Berube got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Wolcott unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak two weeks ago. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to Seymour.

Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Wolcott, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic against Wolcott in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-14 victory. In that contest, the Yellowjackets amassed a halftime lead of 42-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
