Baseball Recap: Lawson Triumphs

Lawson won the last time they faced Overton and things went their way on Monday too. The Lightning sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Bobcats.

Henry Sheaffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elliot Swihart was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hudson Owens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Lawson's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Overton, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bobcats beat Lawson by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday.
