Basketball Recap: Crest Ridge Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Crest Ridge won the last time they faced Lexington and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Crest Ridge Cougars came out on top against the Lexington Minutemen by a score of 66-56. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Minutemen are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crest Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayley Marten, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Marten is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Brilynn Fleming, who posted 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Crest Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Crest Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Lexington, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Crest Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-39 win against Concordia on the 1st. As for Lexington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-39 loss against Knob Noster on the 1st.
